We continue in 1Peter in our discussion of faith and the living a Christian life in a sinful world.

Peter continues to talk on how it will not be easy to put your faith out there and there will be trials set forth through persecution because of your faith. In his day their faith in Christ and God led to their own persecutions and martyrdom. Living a Holy life in foreign Land

We have come back to 1Peter to continue discussion on living a holy life as described by Peter. Peter continues in description of that life in following in foot steps of our Lord Jesus Christ. 

1Peter 2:11-12 "Dear Friends, I urge you as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your souls. 12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visit

New Year, Stronger Faith

Starting the new year doesn't have to mean new everything, but it can mean stronger faith in the Lord by doing the Four G's; Go, Gather, Give, and Grow. By following these simple tenets we can reaffirm our own faith and grow spiritually, By growing, we can show others God's love and bring them into Faith. Start the year off right and enjoy God's blessings and give praise to the Lord for those blessings. 

Christmas

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." John 3:16-17

Joy

The circumstances of life have a way of robbing us of joy. Disappointment, frustration, and loss can drain the very life from us; however, Jesus's birth reminds us that , no matter how hard life is, we don't have to go through it alone. 

God has come to us full of grace and truth, and that should bring us joy. We can trust that Jesus's presence with us will reveal the truth about our lives and at the same time will offer us the grace to see things. 

Peace

The announcement of Jesus's birth was delivered to the shepherds who lived on the fringe of society, in the fields, watching their sheep by night. If a king were born to the world, you would expect these shepherds to be the last to know about it. Yet, the heavenly angles told them that peace was coming to the earth for those on whom God's favor rested. What a shocking message! God's favor was even on the shepherds. Hope

This weeks sermon led by Brother Dave Almen, beginning the season of Advent was about Hope. Reflecting on many of the people of the Old Testament and their hopes for the future, as many had no direct interactions with God and it was before Christ had been sent to lead and save us. They placed their hope in the future with their faith in God and eventually Jesus Christ, and during the season of Advent we again place our hope in the future with the Second coming of Christ. W

Thankful for Freedom

Todays amazing sermon was returning to Galatians and Paul's somewhat salty response to the churches of Galatia, not for their lack of knowledge of the scripture but for their lack of Faith and relying on actions of the flesh to appease  the Lord.

Giving Thanks

This weeks sermon was all about giving thanks but not just for Thanksgiving, but remembering to give thanks to Jesus Christ for cleansing us of our sins and blessing us every day. Give Thanks for all that you have as you have been blessed by the Lord. Look around at your table this Thanksgiving and look at your blessings.
